Curriculum Vitae
Flaminia completed her Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano and went on to explore the brain through a Master’s in Neuroengineering at the Technical University of Munich. During her studies, two key experiences brought her to Zurich: her participation in the ETH Cybathlon BCI competition and her Master’s thesis on vagus nerve stimulation conducted at ETH Zurich. Since October 2025, she has joined the Brain-Body Regulation Laboratory as a PhD candidate.
Research Interests
Flaminia is particularly interested in non-invasive neuromodulation, stemming from a deep curiosity about the brain’s complexity and our ability to interact with it. She finds it fascinating that these techniques offer the rare opportunity to serve as both intervention and probe, enabling mechanistic investigations and therapeutic applications simultaneously: in essence, exploring how functional pathways become disrupted and, importantly, how they might be restored.
Her research at the Brain-Body Regulation Lab focuses on the self-regulation of arousal through pupil-based biofeedback, addressing both mechanistic and translational questions. What she finds especially exciting about this project is that the perturbation arises from the participant’s own internal state, rather than from an externally applied stimulus.
In her scientific career, Flaminia aims to maintain a patient-centered approach, conducting research with tangible clinical relevance and accessible impact. At the same time, she hopes to contribute to a deeper understanding of brain function, thus bridging basic and applied neuroscience.
